The Jerwood Foundation made a grant of £500,000 towards DanceEast's new permanent home at the former Cranfields Mill site on the regenerated Ipswich Waterfront. The Jerwood DanceHouse was designed by John Lyall Architects and officially opened with a weekend of celebrations on Saturday 10 October 2009.

The Jerwood DanceHouse is the first and only custom built facility in the East of England for dance and provides a perment home for DanceEast. It includes a 200-seat flexible theatre space, 3 dance studios (the Wellbeing Studio, Sir Frederick Ashton Studio and Red Shoe Studio), fitness and Pilates suites, the DanceEats! cafe and the Dance Vibe dancewear shop. The Dancehouse is dedicated to creative development, with a particular focus on developing new choreographic talent. The studio theatre will also present and produce new work in an intimate setting before such work tours nationally and internationally.

DanceEast

DanceEast  was founded in 1983 and the following year gained National Dance Agency (NDA) status from the Arts Council. It is now one of the country's leading dance organisations, building new audiences and advocates for dance, developing the art form and supporting dance artists.

DanceEast's Rural Retreats think tanks are supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
